'TSUNAMI' kills two off France
Two passengers were killed as 30ft water crashed on board of the Louis Majesty cruise. Sailing from Barcelona to Genoa with 1,350 passengers and crew, the tsunami struck whilst they were in the Mediterranean Sea. This idea could have been used to create a thriller film because as in the winter, France is meant to be looking spectacular with the landscapes covered in snow. Tsunamis create panic and tension as they are abrupt and unknown to its environment and being featured in a thriller plot allows the audience to communicate with the character as their safety is in caution. Suspense and tension are built very quickly here and this is successful to the plot, because the audience are able to quickly grasp the plot.
Volcanic ash CHAOS
For the first time ever in Britain, flying abroad has been brought to a standstill whcih doesnt include maintenance difficulties or weather problems. The answer to this- VOLCANIC ASH! Small grey-like powder which injected by fumes can provide a deadly experience for passengers. The tourism industry has hit a downturn as we reach the summer months where profits are made. This can be used as a background story in a thriller because the idea of being 'grounded' in Britain provides suspense for victims trying to escape from villains. A common source of transport used to get out of a country is by plane so when this escape is is suddenly out of use, the audience is stuck to the storyline as panic uses them to react to the plot. It can also be used to maximise of the idea someone being physically trapped in their mind to a larger scale. This makes the audience want to offer help to the character in danger which effectively means they are 'glued' to the storyline.
