My Preferred Thriller Genres

ACTION
Action is a genre that particularly interests me when watching a thriller because it allows the audience to be visually busy allowing lots of opportunities for suspense and tension to take place. Although, there are lots of explosions, props such as guns, I think these uses are particularly successful in a thriller because it grips the audience allowing them to react with the character.

These examples contain a comedy feature allowing the audience to be calm and relaxed where, in the next scenes, entitle them to be in shock and alarmed in relevance to the dark tone of the film. This places the audience to be in an 'utopian' environment whilst in a real-time setting which becomees visually interesting to watch.
CRIME
Crime is also a genre which is highly used in thrillers which, therefore, apply more tension whilst watching them from being in a particular point of view-normally, the criminal's side. Some aspects which are normally involved in thrillers are: robberies, murders and shootouts. With these aspects, we as the audience, are obliged to be within the action therefore whilst being in a chase with the authority, suspense and tension is built to grip the audience to their seats. I think Crime Thrillers are succesful in attracting the audience's tension because, even though, the dialogue or the plot may not be as good, the action can distract the audience's attention from this.

PSYCHOLOGICAL
Psychological thrillers are normally depicted from a character's mind and plays upon this to where there are hardly any physical action involved. Suspense is very effective in psychological thrillers because they allow other enemies to use their minds to prey onto their victim/victims. An example of this would be playing deceptive mind games. Where conflict is used, this could create suspense as the conflict could be portrayed vividly towards the audience watching the film. I think the psychological genre of a thriller film is very entertaining because it allows the audience to be visually active by using thier brains to connect with the plot. This could be of a disadvantage to others but for me, it is a clever way to catch the audience's attention by reacting with the characters whilst the use of physical action is commonly used in thrillers to create tension.
